Welcome to PlaceCard.us, the tool designed to help you create and print professional labels from your spreadsheet data. At PlaceCard.us, your privacy is of utmost importance to us, and this privacy policy outlines how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our services.
Privacy-First & Local-First Processing
We fundamentally believe that your data belongs to you. That's why PlaceCard.us is built with a local-first architecture.
- Mostly Local Processing: When you import spreadsheets or create labels, the core mapping, rendering, and PDF generation workflows happen locally on your own computer or within your browser.
- UI Wording Clarification: In some parts of the web app, we may use words like "upload" or "import" to mean choosing a file from your device. For local file flows such as Excel, CSV, and many image imports, the file is read by your browser on your device and is not stored on our servers as account content by default.
- Limited User-Initiated Bridge Transfers: Some companion import flows, such as browser-extension or add-on handoff pages, may transmit the specific data you selected to PlaceCard.us so it can be written into your browser session and opened in the editor. We do not treat that imported table content as account data or keep a persistent database of it by default.
We collect the minimum data necessary depending on the platform you use:
The Mac App is designed for absolute privacy and operates entirely offline.
- Zero Analytics/Tracking: We do not include Google Analytics, Plausible, or any other tracking software in our Mac desktop application.
- Zero Data Uploads: Your spreadsheets, designs, and exports never leave your device.
- No Accounts Required: Basic usage requires no sign-in or data sharing.
- Purchases: In-App Purchases are handled natively and securely via Apple’s App Store (StoreKit). We do not collect or store your Apple ID or payment information.
When using our cloud-based web application, we collect limited data to provide our services:
- Account Information: Name, email address, and authentication details when creating an account for cloud syncing and subscription management.
- Usage Details & Analytics: Anonymous information about how you use the web app (e.g., via Google Analytics) to help us improve the interface and features.
- Device Information: Browser type and OS data to optimize web performance.
- Cookies: Standard web cookies to keep you logged in and save preferences.
Account Data Retention and Deletion:
- Retention: We retain the personal information collected via Google Sign-In (such as your name and email address) for as long as your account remains active. We may periodically delete data from accounts that have been inactive for more than 24 months to ensure your privacy.
- Deletion: You have the right to request the deletion of your account and all associated data at any time. To do so, please contact us via email at [email protected]. Upon receiving your request, we will permanently remove your profile and all associated data from our active databases within 30 days.
Our Chrome extension scans the currently active page only after you click the extension. It is designed to help you detect visible tables and import a selected guest list into PlaceCard.us.
When you use the extension:
- The extension temporarily reads the active tab to detect visible HTML tables or ARIA grids.
- The scan result is shown inside the extension popup.
- Only if you click Import This Table, the selected row data, page URL, page title, and table title are submitted to a PlaceCard.us bridge page so the data can be written into that browser tab's
sessionStorage and opened in the editor.
Data Retention and Deletion:
- Retention: We do not persist imported table rows as saved account content by default. The bridge flow is intended to place the selected data into your browser session for immediate editing.
- Deletion: Closing the browser tab clears the session storage used for the bridge handoff. If you save content later inside PlaceCard.us, that saved content is governed by the product flow you choose at that time.
Our Google Sheets sidebar add-on, Place Card Designer for Google Sheets™, accesses your spreadsheet data using the spreadsheets.currentonly scope. We use this data solely to:
- Read the active sheet that you choose to work with.
- Show a sidebar preview of headers and rows.
- Transfer the selected sheet rows, spreadsheet title, spreadsheet URL, and sheet title to a PlaceCard.us bridge page so the data can be written into your browser session and opened in the hosted place card editor.
Data Retention and Deletion:
- Retention: We do not store imported spreadsheet rows as persistent account content by default. The bridge flow is intended to place the selected data into your browser session for immediate editing in Place Card Maker.
- Deletion: Closing the browser tab clears the browser session storage used by the bridge handoff. If you later save designs or other content inside PlaceCard.us, that saved content is governed by the product flow you choose at that time.
Our Google Sheets Add-on accesses your spreadsheet data using the spreadsheets.currentonly scope. We use this data solely to:
- Detect column headers to help you map fields.
- Transfer the row data into your browser's local storage for PDF generation.
Data Retention and Deletion:
- Retention: We do not store or persist your Google user data (such as spreadsheet content) as saved account content on our servers. All data processing occurs locally within your browser session or is passed via secure transient parameters to our web application for the sole purpose of generating labels. We do not maintain a user-browsable database of your spreadsheet content.
- Deletion: Since we do not persist your Google user data, there is no data to delete from our servers. Users can revoke the Add-on's access to their Google account at any time through Google Account Security Settings. Once access is revoked, the Add-on will no longer have any access to your data.
Important: Our products are designed to avoid persistent storage of spreadsheet content as account data. Some bridge flows may transmit selected content to a PlaceCard.us handoff page so that content can be written into browser storage for the active session. Our use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
- For the Chrome extension and Google Sheets add-on bridge flows, closing the browser tab used for the import clears the browser
sessionStorage used for that handoff.
- If you no longer want a Google add-on to access your active spreadsheet, revoke access from Google Account Permissions.
- To request deletion of your PlaceCard.us account and associated account data, email [email protected].
- When possible, send the request from the email address associated with your account.
- We aim to complete verified account deletion requests within 30 days.
- What We Collect: We do not store or process your full credit card information, PayPal account details, or Apple ID payment details on our servers.
- Purpose: All payment transactions are securely processed through trusted third-party payment gateways such as Stripe and PayPal (for web) and Apple's In-App Purchase system (for macOS). These payment processors handle your billing information directly in accordance with their own strict privacy and security policies. We only receive confirmation that a payment was successful to provision your Pro access.
We take the security of your personal information seriously. The data we collect is stored securely on our servers, and we implement a variety of security measures including encryption and access controls to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction of your personal information. However, please be aware that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to outside parties, except in the following circumstances:
- To comply with legal obligations or respond to lawful requests from public authorities.
- To protect our rights, property, or safety, or that of our users or others.
- To provide services through trusted third-party partners who assist us in operating our website or conducting our business, subject to confidentiality agreements.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "effective date" at the top of this policy. You are advised to review this privacy policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this privacy policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
