Best Canva Place Card Sizes
Set a custom size in Canva before you design. Wrong canvas size is the most common reason cards print too small or too large.
Flat place card
Use 3.5" × 2" for a standard lay-flat card that fits most holders.
Tent-fold card
Use 3.5" × 4" unfolded, then fold in half to a 3.5" × 2" standing card.
6-up Letter sheet
Plan 3.5" × 2" cards in a 3×2 grid on US Letter if you will cut from a home printer sheet.
Avery 5302 stock
A single Canva card is not a 5302 sheet. Export artwork, then place it into the official four-up Letter layout — see Avery place cards.
How to Make Place Cards in Canva

1. Search a place card template
In Canva, search “place card” and pick tent-fold or flat. Prefer readable fonts over ornate script for table distance.
2. Set the custom size
Confirm 3.5×2 (flat) or 3.5×4 (tent unfolded) before editing colors and names.
3. Edit the first guest
Replace the sample name, optionally add a table number, and leave margin around the text.
4. Duplicate for each guest
Duplicate the page and retype every name. This is fine for ~10–20 guests — and where large lists become painful.
5. Download PDF Print
Share → Download → PDF Print (not PDF Standard). Add crop marks if color goes to the edge.
6. Print at Actual Size
In your PDF viewer, choose 100% / Actual Size and disable Fit to Page. Test on plain paper first.
Why Batch Guest Names Hurt in Canva
Canva is a design tool. Place cards for events are a data problem: one row per guest, late seating changes, and one shared layout.

Each guest needs another page and another typed name. Typos and missed plus-ones increase with list size.
Seating changes
When tables reshuffle, you re-open dozens of Canva pages instead of editing one spreadsheet column.

Canva Bulk Create can help on some plans, but you still must verify every page and match exact print-sheet geometry for your paper.
Spreadsheet as source of truth
If names already live in Excel or Google Sheets, generate the PDF from that file instead of retyping into Canva.
